I was trying to move a virtual machine to a new host using live-migration.
The move process would fail at the last moment with the error:
virtual machine migration operation failed at migration destination. Failed to access disk.
For me this was caused because the VM I was attempting to move had a differencing disk. If the parent disk remains on the source host then the move will fail. You must relocate the parent disk to the new location then move the VM with the differencing disk.
